Picking up guitar at age sixteen, he
was in two of Americas Premier Punk
Rock bands (one of whos songs was covered by Urge Overkill) by the
time he was eighteen, innocently playing guitar and absorbing Pop of all eras and genres
from his buddy Alan Milman, heavily influenced by 60's and especially British Invasion,
Late 70s and early 80s New Wave and Punk like Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson.
- Later, he and Alan wrote songs for
their Power POP! project
- recording and releasing a
45 and an LP, Both of
which received promising reviews in Power Pop circles in and around New York and
Los Angeles. Still somehow remaining almost completely unknown!

- In 1997 he formed a band called
- with long time friend Gary Feldman and Buddy Love
bandmate Rich Starr. They soon had to change their name to
-
-
- cause the Radio Flyer Corporation threatened to
sue! but that didn't stop them from making some great jangly, Byrds-y, Beatle-y POP!
But that's still
old news
RECENTLY
In 2003, in order
to avoid a mid life crisis, he and Rich along with new friends Bruce and Steve,
formed a band called
doing a blend of their
favorite 60's hits and eccentric non-hits, and of course Doug's own 60's flavored songs.
They played on Long Island (especially at Canno's Swiss Tavern in Lynbrook, NY)
today
TODAY
Funny how things
go full circle but Rich and Doug and ORIGINAL Buddy Love bandmates Joey
Kelly and Scott Nevin "Killer" Schiller have reformed
